ISJO engaged in working closely with its four member councils in two major areas of local government, skills development and procurement of goods and services.
As one of four regions piloting the new Local Government Skills Strategy, member Councils are currently putting together a funded raft of pre-employment training, apprenticeships and traineeships, and skills development of existing staff.
The ISJO regional procurement program has successfully contracted a new regional panel of Code of Conduct reviewers, is working on a number of new joint procurement tenders and has implemented software licences across all four Councils to allow local panels of suppliers and contractors to be established as well as regional ones. A joint policy to guide and provide the principles for regional procurement is also being developed.
