The Illawarra District Weeds Authority was established by Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama Councils in 1993. The IDWA purpose is to administer the Biosecurity Act 2015 and control priority weeds within the three local government areas.
The ISJO acts as Manager and Secretariat for the IDWA which is an agreed activity in our Charter, classified as regional service delivery.
The ISJO represents our IDWA councils on the South East Regional Weeds Committee, tasked with implementing the Regional Strategic Weed Management Plan. Visit the Local Land Services website for more information or to download a copy of the Plan.
